Angkor Art Gallery, in collaboration with the Khmer Artist Association, officially launched the Icons of Cambodia Fine Art Collection—a landmark initiative that brings together local and international artists to celebrate Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage through the lens of fine art.

Phnom Penh, February 7— Angkor Art Gallery, in collaboration with the Khmer Artist Association, officially launched the Icons of Cambodia Fine Art Collection—a landmark initiative that brings together local and international artists to celebrate Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage through the lens of fine art. The launch also marks a pivotal moment for the nation’s creative sector with the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations.

This launch also marks the grand opening of Angkor Art Gallery, a newly established creative space in Phnom Penh. Designed as a vibrant cultural hub, the gallery is set to host exhibitions, workshops, and cross-disciplinary programs that bring together art collectors, creators, and the broader community.

A highlight of the collection is the work of renowned artist Sopheak Lach, whose signature style and meaningful interpretations capture the spirit of Cambodia’s cultural legacy. His pieces, alongside those of other participating artists, form a visual narrative that invites reflection, pride, and deeper appreciation for Cambodia’s evolving creative expression.

The event was graced by Her Excellency Lok ChumTeav Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan, President of the Khmer Artist Association, who officiated the launch as Guest of Honour. A key moment of the evening was the MOU signing between Mr. Bernard Teo, representative of Angkor Art Gallery, and H.E. Mao Chamnan, formalizing a long-term partnership focused on artist empowerment, international exchange, and the global promotion of Cambodian art.

In her remarks, H.E. Mao Chamnan shared:

“The Icons of Cambodia collection is a meaningful step forward for our creative community. It not only uplifts our artists but ensures that our cultural identity is carried with pride into the future. Today’s partnership signifies a united effort to elevate Cambodian art at both national and international levels.”

To further amplify support for the creative community, the evening concluded with a charity art auction, featuring select pieces from the Icons of Cambodia collection. Proceeds from the auction will contribute toward future artist development programs and exhibitions that expand opportunities for Cambodian artists both locally and abroad.

The initiative is co-organised by YouAdMe and Chip Mong Retail, and supported by the Khmer Artist Association. It goes beyond a single exhibition—offering mentorship, visibility, and cross-border opportunities for artists to thrive in an increasingly connected art world.

This event and initiative were made possible through the generous support of committed sponsors:

  • Title Sponsor: CamEd Business School

  • Platinum Sponsors: CB General Insurance, La Casa Design Group

  • Event Sponsors: Awesome Pick, Khmer Beverages, RMA (Cambodia), Samba Asia Group, Seekers Independent Spirits, Tinh Tinh
